We wish to thank Empire State Ambulance Corp. (now known as Hudson Valley Paramedic Services) for the outstanding service provided to Putnam County over the past two years.

The Chief’s Association meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 20th at the Putnam Valley Fire Department starting at 20:00 hours.

The Fire Investigation Team will meet on Wednesday, August 27th at the TOP’s Building beginning at 19:30 hours.

Upcoming Classes

There will be a Firefighter 1 class starting on September 2nd, a Scene Support Op’s Class starting on September 2nd, a Firefighter Survival starting on September 19th and an Incident safety Officer class starting on October 7th. Please check the Bureau web page for times and locations.

As another potential recruiting and retention tool, the Governor signed a bill into law allowing volunteer firefighters and EMT’s to have access to low cost health insurance. The law will go into effect in 2009 and details have not yet been released. This sounds like an important benefit to help with retention especially with some of our younger recruits. I will distribute more as details become available. In the meantime please view the short video.
